Even The Wrong Words Seem To Rhyme

They Can Never Have Yesterday April 18, 2009

Week Four already and I’ve flunked so many tests.

Monday was good because I managed to sleep in the library for half an hour despite Shermin’s huge sin of squealing in the library because she was so amazed by the arrows in the game Tap Tap. Then, I craved for instant noodles so much and so I had instant noodles for lunch. Awesome Five plus the guys plus Michael disturbed me and that made me choke on my noodles.

Tuesday was extremely brilliant! I donated my blood for the first time. Initially, I was extremely scared but the presence of a few friends made me overcome my fear. I’m proud of myself- I did not cry. But that’s probably because I was watching Spongebob on my iPod when the nurse poked me with the huge needle.

After the whole process was over, I felt nauseous and started sweating. I heard from one of the nurses that I looked extremely pale. The doctor checked my blood pressure and it dropped to 92 instead of the normal 120.

Tuesday was Esther’s birthday. We sure had a fun time giving her a… creamy seventeenth birthday.

I conducted sectionals for the Alto’s section for the first time. That, was also the first time I use my hands to conduct. My fingers were always for the piano.

No lit quiz on Wednesday and I had a new eye candy. Oh, Nabillah.

I screwed up the human geog lecture test. I was supposed to wake up at 4.30AM to study. My alarm clock rang, my mum woke me up, but I refused to get out of bed. In any case, those who did study screwed up the test too.

Friday was BRILLIANT. Forget about Econs test, obviously I screwed that up too. Yang Ling and I went to Far East to eat chippys and roamed around. We took a lot of crazy photos and then went back to school for choir.

After choir, we went to the prata shop to celebrate Ting Hui Hui’s birthday! I don’t even know how to describe the mini celebration we had for her. It would have been even more fun if we had the whole choir down!

Life’s kinda a mess for me right now, with the heap loads of homework, SYF and everything else.

Other photos now!

Let’s Drink Vodka And Get Drunk Tonight! April 11, 2009

We had a pretty intimate family gathering at NUSS Guildhouse, Suntec to celebrate both Mus’s and Nad’s birthday. The food and company was awesome! Got pretty drunk by the end of the celebration. Then, we went to the TP house to eat the birthday cake! Mummy made some jokes and Mus laughed so hard that it was hilarious just watching him laugh!

We took the opportunity to have our very first editorial. Mus and Nad were sporting enough to be the models for the day. I couldn’t have done it without my photographer for the day, Nadira!

Happy Seventeenth Birthday, Mustaffa!
Happy Nineteenth Birthday, Nadiah!

I love both of you truckloads. I pray that Mustaffa will be 25 soon so you guys can get married, yeah!

By the way, I chopped of my locks and the hairdresser chopped my already short fringe. No, I did not cut my hair just because I couldn’t understand Recurrence Relation, Shermin.

No one has ignited a fire so hot that made the feeling last for more than three months. Period.

Let’s have some fun!

If As Thou Dost Melt April 4, 2009

The day started with the ushers assembling at 8 for a briefing session. There were a lot of senior citizens and random Civil Defence guys and I think G. Chew joked that the choristers from the other schools who were coming today might mistake Nanyang Junior College for Nanyang Old Folks Home.

Honestly, the choral exchange made me walked out of LT4 feeling nothing but demoralized after watching AJC’s performance. I was so demoralized that I felt like cancelling the whole orientation and replace it with sectionals. However, after listening to what Mr G. Cheow and Mr T. Toh had to say, I realized that today’s performance was more of a wake-up call for the choristers to stretch themselves even more.

Personally, I loved VS’ and Cat High’s performance! Apart from the fact that the boys looked extremely adorable when they’re singing, their technique was brilliant for secondary school students.

I wasn’t actually in the mood for the orientation but life has to go on. I don’t know why, but there’s this sexual segregation thing going on during lunch. Annie and I decided to break the sexual segregation and sit with the boys.I shared the lollipop I bought and everyone was happy.

The girls got our heels today! I have a soft spot for shoes and I found myself squealing in delight when I saw those silver shoes. The colours weren’t that important, but the height is. 4 inches, mind you! I threw my converse aside and started walking around in my heels and I took a picture with G. Sin to boost my confidence! But of course he’s still taller than me, well, like what Amanda said, he’s taller than ANYONE! It was morale boosting to know that I’m actually taller than G. Chew.

The first few games were okay but I totally loved the last game! No one was spared from getting wet. There was a point of time when I started stoning and I stared at Jae blankly. He decided to play the “my eyes are bigger than yours” game and stared at me. When I told him that my eyes are way bigger than his, he took his specs and placed his frames at the eyelids and suddenly, his eyes were bigger! It was so hilarious that I laughed real hard. Dexter is one evil monster because he stole the water gun from me and used it to spray at other people, including me. I enjoyed spraying water at everyone, especially Jae, because he runs around like a small kid whenever I threaten to spray water at him.

I choose to believe that the year ones enjoyed the orientation today!

My head is above G’s shoulders=Instant confidence boost!

Tall Annie and I.

Part of the Altos.

Look at my heels and converse + Jae is very tall – At least he’s not as tall as G. Sin = I am still very tall.

Carl is a monster.

All drenched.

P.S: G. Chew, Carl and Jae are hilarious!

Looks Like Sarcasm Is Everyone’s Favourite Poetic Device Now April 3, 2009

Filed under: Life As It Is, School — N @ 4:28 PM

Last Friday, when it was still March, I looked at this pile of work and I decided to put an end to my procrastination. We all have that one moment in our lives, that one turning point where we are bestowed with sudden enlightenment and the abrupt ability to view the world through fragile and momentary clarity. We could examine our lives through different eyes and say it like Obama, “It is time for change”.

Unfortunately for me, that was not my moment, and as I contemplated the despair of about one and half more years of college, I sighed and dived right into the knee-deep pile of never ending work.

When I finally surfaced for air, the sun had already traveled around the earth five times without warning! The calendar had suddenly become incomprehensible to me. April does not make any sense. I say no to April!

Just so you get a feel of how miserable and distressing this week was: It is probably equivalent to completing twelve billion math tutorials. I’m euphoric to still be alive!

Throughout the whole week, I couldn’t bring myself to study on the bus on the way to school or just do anything. This week, I go to school for the sake of meeting my friends and the grueling choir practices. But of course, the half hour to one hour “let’s laugh like mad” breaks play an integral part to why I can drag myself out of bed at 5.15AM on days when I have 7.30AM classes.

At times, I wonder if educators have lost its true meaning. They define tutorials as sessions whereby by hook or by crook, they have to finish going through the assignment, without taking into account what hiccups the students are actually undergoing. Perhaps, the college system should be changed into an all lecture system and students just have to get personal tutors to guide them with their tutorials. My,my! That will save the students time from writing brainless reflections and get on with their work.
See this is one of the rare moments I have where I can write my blog post in proper English.

College lies!

Three. March 31, 2009

I wish I’m 3.

3-The age where you’re too innocent to lie.
3-The age where you don’t have anything to worry about except urinating at the right place.

The clock is ticking,
